A Unique Perspective

After spending his childhood in the Middle East, Biby Sam moved to India and discovered the diversity of this unique country where cultures change every 50 km.

Travelling across the length and breadth of this country along with other countries in Asia and Africa, Biby has worked with more than 90 tribes and ethnic communities, including people from Western countries.

This has given him fascinating insights into how communities and cultures learn to interact with each other in multicultural environments. He has worked in the field of ethnomusicology, trauma mediation and peace-building using cultural diplomacy and dialogue, facilitating conflict transformation using local art forms and oral communication genres.
Qualifications

Biby holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Pune, a Diploma in Modern Applied Psychology and a certificate in Gestalt Psychotherapy.

He has more than 25 years of experience in media, working in diverse settings from multi-national corporations such as Bosch to the Indian film industry.

With more than a decade of coaching experience, Biby is also trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Emotional Intelligence and Neuroscience-based coaching accredited under the American Board of NLP and International Association of Professional Coaches, Counsellors, and Therapists, as well as Leadership, Executive and Organisational Development coaching accredited under the International Coaching Federation.

A Unique Experience

Biby was invited to visit Chibok town which has faced many attacks and kidnappings by the Boko Haram terrorist group. The village association President asked Biby to document the history of the Kibakku people in Chibok. The people also shared how they dealt with the trauma of living in a war-torn region and how they used storytelling and folk songs to keep hope alive.

Biby has worked in conflict and post-conflict regions in different parts of Asia as well. These experiences have enabled him to research collective, intergenerational trauma and create his DEI training.

Every art-form is a story from a culture that is an equal part of the mosaic that makes up the world. To appreciate their beauty is a step to building a bridge of understanding across cultures.
